Sheffield Universities

The Academics for Academic Freedom Branch at Sheffield Universities was launched in November 2023 to defend and promote free speech and academic freedom at the two local universities (University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University).

We invite interested members of academic staff, and students, to join us, irrespective of your disciplinary background, or your political views.

We ask only that you are committed to defending and advocating for free speech and academic freedom as defined in the Academics for Academic Freedom statement of principles.

Activity Update: Our first public meeting will be on Thursday 18 January 2024 at 15.00 in Aspect Court- 15105 (Hallam City Campus). The speaker is Professor Dennis Hayes.
